Children's Art Project: Two Extra Weeks to Submit Artwork

This past June, Director Mayorkas introduced the "We Are America" National Children’s Art Project in collaboration with organizations serving immigrants. The deadline for the National Children’s Art Project was recently extended to August 30, 2010.

We encourage children across the United States to submit artwork in response to the following: "People have come from all over the world to become Americans. Why does that make us great?"

The artwork will be displayed in USCIS offices around the country and is also on display in our online photo gallery. For more information please visit www.uscis.gov/childrensartproject.

Eb2-India had a significant Priority Date move until 2006, now USCIS should move EB3-India that is logical, people like us are here for past 11 years, stucked in EB3-India, Why we should all wait for Eb2-India to be current, right now Eb2-India have some relief let that relief come to EB3-India too. The next spill over should be for EB3-India, Please make the Priority Date move in the next bulletin to Year 2005 to EB-3 India, or else allow us who are here for 10 years to file EAD, dont toruture us enough is enough.

Are we able to capture all the visa number for YR 2010? I hope we don't waste any spillover. Everyone thought that September 2010 would make th EB2-I to Jan 2007.

Why the movement is not that fast? Also a Special note as most of the EB2 Application in pending state is either reviewed or rejected. If they are reviewed they are awaiting for Visa numbers.

Why Don't USCIS Accept new applications for example until 2008 December to get more people to file the change of status? This way you can keep Adjudication process Alive for All the Employment category.

Kindly do the needful.

So, while a simple H-1 extension gets stuck in "Initial Review" for months, USCIS workers are busy judging drawing competitions? This is what we are paying for?

I trust they correct the problem of K4 status, to avoid aging out, why a K2 can adjust status while K4 cant. Legally, K4 parent was married to an american, while K2 parent is only a fiance. I also hope the processing of petition will be faster now, considering the fees paid were heavy in our pocket.

I remember being in something like this when I was in elementary school.

If that picture is any indication of the kind of art these kids are putting out then they are more talented than I was. Everyone has their skills, I'm glad to see them getting a chance to put it to good use.

Children are full of imagination which is not unexpected, try to give freedom to them to be oblivious to it through painting, drawing or whatever. This will provide an opportunity for them to work even though they did not realize it. Thanks. ~ Lukisan

Children are full of imaginations and they can canvas their imagination purely. Our future generation is much talented and we should provide them opportunities...

If more kids would work on art instead of video games or movies and TV, this would be a better place. (As long as these kids also have good values in knowing what is art and what is not).

It is nice to see people encouraging children to be nationalistic in the form of art project. It really has a nice effect to the children rather than sitting around and play computer games.

I really like the artwork at the top.

Great educational idea to get the kids doing something other than sitting in front of the tv.

It's amazing how creative a child can be when they set their mind to it.

It's good to know USCIS is giving out this kind of project to US children. This will help boost the creative minds of the innocents at an early stage...

I checked out the gallery, and I was into Muhammad's work of art (which you can see at the top of this page). He has a very powerful concept, not to mention that he's only 11 years old. ;)

i approve of this educational technique. what does a child really gain from video games?

At June 20, 2011 at 1:15:00 PM EDT , Anonymous Wade Tracy said...

To the video game comments - video games are a great way to get kids interested in art--especially if we get them involved in the development of games at an early age. Kids love the idea of creating video games and it has helped get my daughter more interested in drawing as she helps me make games that she is designing. She is also learning to create digital art and develop her critical thinking skills. Parents have always dismissed the interests of kids rather than encourage them. My parents did the same thing and their parents did the same thing to them.

I know this wont go on this blog, but why not let kids choose what they would like to learn? At what point did we as parents collectively decide that art was better for you than video games? If anything, I would assume that video games build teamwork and neurological connections, where as art creates...creativity...yippee

Ill take a better functioning brain over the ability to look at a collage of random lines and see something that isnt there.
