The Employee Rights Toolkit: You Should Know Your Rights!

USCIS just released a new resource that offers useful information for all workers in the United States.

Our new online Employee Rights Toolkit compiles a variety of creative informational materials you can use to learn—and teach others—about employee rights. The toolkit’s downloadable videos, brochures, fliers, posters and other features will help everyone understand worker rights and employer responsibilities in the E-Verify process.

See the toolkit’s attractive videos about Self Check, as well as useful information about the Unauthorized Practice of Immigration Law and other important topics—all in formats that make them easy to share with the public you serve. Most of the resources are available in both English and Spanish.

Check it out today! And please let us know about what you think about the toolkit and how you can use it to spread the word on employee rights far and wide. If you want the Employee Rights Toolkit on a CD or DVD, go to the USCIS Forms by Mail website to order your very own copy.

You will find the Employee Rights Toolkit in the "For Employees" section of the E-Verify website and on the Self Check site. Add a link to your Web page!

1) The U.S. remains the only western industrialized nation that maintains an outmoded 1800's employment doctrine called "At Will".

2) My research over the years reveals this sad fact, almost 98% of all career seekers and employees have little or no knowledge of their Basic Employee Rights!

3) As a function of #1 and #2 many employers count on the job recruits employee rights ignorance. This of course give the employer a huge advantage and position of leverage.

However, here is an even more impressive or depressive number. Over 97% of all career seekers and employees have little or no knowledge of their Basic Employee Rights!

This includes everything from how to read a job description, understand what's really happening in a job interview, how employee performance reviews are manipulated, what "At Will" employment means and more.

Most employers count of the fact that the overwhelming majority of hired workers will be ignorant of even the most fundamental of their legal protections.

The question every incumbent should ask is why? Academic coursework focused on Employee Rights in secondary and collegiate education is virtually nonexistent.

Thus the following scenario happens everyday somewhere in the U.S. Suzy Q. interviews for and is hired by WeDontCare Corp.

Six months after the "honeymoon" is over she finds herself in a minefield of discrimination, bullying, sexual harassment and more all aimed right at her!

Now what? Since she has no clue about her employee rights she is at the mercy of the bad employer. Every high school senior and college graduate MUST learn their workplace rights if they expect sustained career success.
